|Republic of Iraq Kick-off Meeting of Health Sector Reconstruction Project (Japanese ODA Loan No. IQ-P16)|
On 7th January 2014, ITEC has signed the Contract with Iraqi Ministry of Health for Consultant’s Services for Health Sector Reconstruction Project. It is Iraq’s first health sector project funded by Japanese ODA Loan (No. IQ-P16), and the main scope is preparation of basic/implementation plan and supervision of detailed design/construction of 200-bed hospitals to be constructed in seven governorates across the country.
Starting the Project, ITEC invited five engineers from Iraqi Ministry of Health to Japan, and convened the Kick-off Meeting from 12th to 17th March. A series of discussion was amply held with the Iraqi engineers regarding the concept design of new hospitals, which reflects the high expectation on the Project. In addition, they visited the Embassy of Iraq in Japan and JICA by courtesy, and took a hospital visit to Tokyo Rinkai Hospital, whose director is Dr. Yamamoto, the chair of the non-profit organization Japan Iraq Medical Association (JIMA). ITEC has been one of the main supporters of JIMA since its foundation in 1986.
ITEC will continue to make contribution to healthcare sector in the Republic of Iraq.
